A short appointment on a weekday is bulk billed, so there is nothing to pay. A longer appointment, or one on the weekend, leaves you with a gap of $30 to $35 once Medicare has paid its part. Reception can tell you what your appointment costs before you book.

These amounts are what you are left out of pocket once Medicare has paid its part. Weekend appointments are booked under different Medicare items, so the amount changes. Children and DVA patients are always bulk billed. If you hold a concession or pension card, the weekend gap usually does not apply, though the new patient fee still does.
Bring a debit card
If you have Medicare and there is a gap to pay, we lodge your claim at reception and the rebate is paid straight back onto a debit card. Without one, the rebate goes to the bank account you have registered with Medicare instead, which takes a few days.
Who is bulk billed
Short weekday appointments are bulk billed, and children and DVA patients are always bulk billed, including long and weekend appointments. For everyone else, what changes the amount is the length of the appointment and the day. Concession and pension card holders usually pay no weekend gap.
New patients pay $60 for a first short appointment, including concession and pension card holders. After that, short weekday appointments are bulk billed.

There is nothing to pay. We claim directly from Medicare on your behalf.

You pay at reception on the day. We lodge your Medicare claim for you, and the rebate is paid back to you.
Billing at our other clinics
Our Bundoora clinic also uses mixed billing. Our Melbourne CBD clinic has billed privately since 3 August 2026, and its fees are published in full.
Common questions about billing
Will I be bulk billed?
A short appointment on a weekday is bulk billed, so there is nothing to pay. A long appointment, or one on the weekend, has a gap. What if I do not have a Medicare card?
You pay the full fee and receive no rebate. Please ask reception for the amount before your appointment, so there is no surprise on the day.
Do I pay the full amount, or just the gap?
You pay the full fee on the day. Your Medicare rebate is then paid back to you, so what you are left out of pocket is the gap shown above.
Are there fees for procedures without a Medicare rebate?
Yes. Some procedures and medicals have no rebate and are charged in full. Ask reception for the price when you book.
Is a telehealth appointment charged the same way?
Telehealth is billed the same way as an appointment in the clinic. To claim a Medicare rebate for telehealth you must already be a patient of the practice.
Can I be seen sooner at another clinic?
Our Melbourne CBD clinic on Liverpool Street is open seven days and new patients can book online. That clinic bills privately, and its fees are published.
