Fees at our Melbourne CBD clinic
This clinic has billed privately since 3 August 2026. You pay on the day. We lodge your Medicare claim at reception, and if you pay with a debit card your rebate comes straight back onto it.
What you are left out of pocket
These are the amounts you pay in the end, after Medicare has paid your rebate back to you.
Medicare item 23$59.45
Medicare item 36$52.90
A longer appointment costs you less
This is on purpose. We would rather you booked the time you need than rushed. If you have several things to discuss, book the long appointment.
When fees are higher
Fees are higher after 1pm on Saturday and all day Sunday. These are different Medicare items, so both the fee and the rebate change. Reception will tell you the exact amount when you book.
How payment works
You pay at reception
On the day of your appointment, before you leave.
We lodge your Medicare claim
Reception does this for you. You do not need to visit a Medicare office.
Your rebate comes straight back
Onto the debit card you paid with, at the counter. This is what the debit card is for: an instant rebate cannot be paid to a credit card.
Who can still be bulk billed here
Patients referred to this clinic from our Preston or Bundoora clinics may be bulk billed, by agreement with the doctor. Otherwise all appointments at the city clinic are privately billed.
Our Preston and Bundoora clinics use mixed billing. Some appointments there are bulk billed and some are not. Please ask reception when you book.
Common questions about fees
Why did this clinic stop bulk billing?
The city clinic moved to private billing on 3 August 2026. Our Preston and Bundoora clinics still use mixed billing.
Do I pay the full amount, or just the gap?
You pay the full fee on the day. If you have Medicare and pay with a debit card, your rebate comes straight back to you at the counter. What you are left out of pocket is the amount shown above.
What if I do not have a Medicare card?
You pay the full fee and receive no rebate, and it does not matter which card you pay with. Please ask reception for the amount before your appointment, so there is no surprise on the day.
Are there fees for procedures without a Medicare rebate?
Yes. Some procedures and medicals have no rebate and are charged in full. Ask reception for the price when you book.
Do you offer discounts or packages?
No. We do not offer discounted or packaged pricing.
Is a telehealth appointment charged the same way?
Telehealth is privately billed at this clinic like any other appointment. To claim a Medicare rebate for telehealth you must already be a patient of the practice.
